Learning Hours: 90 hours guided learning, 170 hours total qualification time.

Minimum Attendance: 80% of guided learning hours

Progression: Successful candidates may progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, subject to readiness and entry requirements.

Course Content and Learning
​
The Level 2 Counselling Studies course is made up of seven learning outcomes. To gain this qualification, by the end of the course learners will / will be able to:

Use counselling skills ethically and safely.

Establish and sustain the boundaries of the helping role.

Work empathically as a helper.
-
Focus on the helpee's needs and concerns.

Use self-awareness in helping work.

Use a range of counselling skills to facilitate the helping relationship.

Use feedback and reflection to enhance counselling skills.​​​
Fees and Payment
Total Course Fee: £1,325*, payable as follows:

£500 non-refundable deposit payable after a successful application and offer of a place.

£825 remaining balance payable in full before the course starts.

Who this course is for​​

This course is designed for students who would like to:

gain a clear introduction to counselling skills, listening, and self-awareness.

explore whether training as a professional counsellor may be the right path for them
-
strengthen listening, communication, and relational skills within their current professional roles
-
develop greater understanding of themselves and others through reflective learning and personal development​.

The course is suitable for professionals working in fields such as education, healthcare, management, human resources, and the voluntary sector, as well as those considering counselling as a future career.
​​
​​​​This course involves personal reflection and group participation. It is not suitable for those currently experiencing severe emotional difficulty or mental health issues without appropriate professional support.
Assessment and Commitment​
​
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and involves a range of written, practical, and reflective components. ​
​
Assessment requirements include:
​

weekly reflective journals.
-
one written assignments of approximately 1,500 words.
-
one self-review of learning and development (completed in session).
-
one presentation.
-
tutorial records evidencing engagement with tutor support (completed in session).
-
two tutor-observed counselling skills practice sessions (one via audio / video recording).
​​
All assessment evidence is compiled into a portfolio and internally assessed against CPCAB criteria, with internal and external quality assurance.
