About Clear Light Academy

Clear Light Academy is a counselling and training centre based in Guernsey offering high-quality counselling education with clear progression routes. The academy was founded in response to a growing need for locally delivered, in-person counselling training for students considering a professional pathway into counselling. Teaching is delivered by practising psychotherapists who are also experienced teachers, trained to at least Level 6, ensuring that learning not only meets qualification requirements but is informed by current clinical practice.

Courses are discussion-based and participatory, reflecting the relational nature of counselling itself. While online learning has an important place, in-person training allows meaningful connections to develop within the group, alongside realistic and embodied skills practice. Learning unfolds through shared presence, dialogue, and reflection, supporting professional growth.

Clear Light Academy runs intentionally small and relational classes, with expertly delivered training shaped around knowing students well and supporting them as individuals.

We work in collaboration with local charities to support students as they move towards placement-based training.

What we offer

Face-to-face training, supporting strong peer relationships, meaningful group learning, and realistic counselling skills practice.

Clear progression routes from Level 2 to Level 4*, enabling students to plan their training pathway with confidence and continuity.

Teaching that is relational, supportive, and appropriately paced, with close attention to how students are understanding and integrating material.

Discussion-based and participatory learning, encouraging thoughtful engagement with theory, skills practice, and lived experience.

A supportive and inclusive learning environment, where questions are welcomed and reflective thinking is actively encouraged.

Individual guidance and support, particularly around professional development and placement preparation, rather than leaving students to navigate these steps alone.
