At Clear Light Academy, in addition to formal course delivery, we aim to support students in understanding progression expectations and preparing for placement-based training if and when they move towards practitioner-level study.​​​

Level 2
Certificate in Counselling Skills
The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is an introductory course for those who wish to develop their listening, communication and relational skills.

This course is suitable for individuals who are:

seeking personal development​

The course introduces core counselling skills, ethical awareness, and reflective practice, while offering space to explore whether further counselling training feels appropriate.

Level 3
Certificate in Counselling Studies
The Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies* is designed for those who are considering progressing towards professional counsellor training.
​
This course develops understanding of counselling theory, ethics, and professional practice, and supports students in preparing for the academic and personal demands of practitioner-level training.

The Level 3 course supports students to:

deepen self-awareness and reflective capacity

prepare for progression to Level 4 training

Level 4
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is a practitioner qualification for those training to work as counsellors.
​This course involves in-depth theoretical study, supervised clinical practice, and the completion of required placement hours. It prepares students for work as trainee counsellors within appropriate settings.
Level 4 training typically requires:

successful completion of Level 3

personal readiness for clinical practice

engagement in placement and supervision

About the Awarding Body
​​​The Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) is the UK's leading awarding organisation specialising in counselling, regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) in England. They develop and award vocational counselling and psychotherapy qualifications which are widely recognised within counselling education and professional settings.

CPCAB qualifications provide a structured framework for developing counselling theory, skills, and reflective practice, and form part of established progression routes within the profession. Qualifications are recognised by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and Level 4 training is commonly used as a route towards professional membership with bodies such as the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the NCPS (subject to meeting their individual requirements).​

​Clear Light Academy is working towards centre approval with the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) to run the Level 2 Certificate in Counselling skills and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. Approval is being actively progressed in advancement of course commencement. The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling is subject to future approvals being sought.
