About Clear Light Academy
Clear Light Academy, based in Guernsey, offers high-quality, in-person counselling education for those considering a professional pathway into counselling, as well as for those wishing to strengthen their listening, communication and interpersonal skills within their current roles.
Training is face-to-face, discussion-based, and relational, with a strong emphasis on clear teaching, reflective learning, and realistic skills practice.
The academy is intentionally small, allowing students to be known as individuals and supported throughout their training. Teaching is thoughtfully paced and delivered within a respectful and inclusive learning environment, where questions are welcomed and professional development is actively encouraged.
Clear Light Academy is committed to contributing to a strong local counselling community, with clear progression routes and a longer term vision that includes developing accessible counselling provision and future placement opportunities.

About your Lead Tutor
Clear Light Academy is led by Ava Winter, a psychotherapist and educator based in Guernsey. Her approach to teaching is relational and supportive, shaped by a strong understanding of adult learning and individual difference. Students are guided with care and clarity, with a focus on developing confidence, reflection, and sound professional judgement.
Ava brings together many years of experience in both education and clinical practice. Having trained and worked extensively as a teacher before moving fully into psychotherapeutic counselling, she established Clear Light Academy to bring together her passions for teaching and counselling within a high-quality, in-person learning environment.
